Aghamore run Breaffy Close in League opener.

Aghamore  0 – 9

Breaffy        1 – 10

Snow, red cards, some fine scores, a penalty and individual battles all over the pitch, this game had it all. Aghamore, without its U21 contingent and a few other players came up short in this hard fought game.  The game started slowly with scored from Conor O’Shea for Breaffy and Alan Freeman Aghamore. Ten minutes in a controversial penalty was brilliantly saved by Aghamore keeper Paddy Finnigan and this spurred on his team mates as Aghamore edged in front by 2 points.  A goal against the run of play came from an attempted point that dropped short and Breaffys Gareth Dunne was in the right place to punch the ball to the net. Freeman leveled the scoreboard moments later but Aghamore never fully recovered from this set back. A badly need goal never seemed likely for Aghamore and the sending off of Brendan Harrison 12 minutes for time hampered the effort. Brendan who was outstanding right through and a contender for Man of the Match was hard done by in the ‘handbags’ scuffle  and will be a major loss of the Castlebar match. Sparks flew from both sides for the  final ten minutes but in the end that unfortunate goal was the deciding factor.Breaffy 5
